Humanistic Play Therapy

Humanistic Play Therapy is a child led approach that focuses on nurturing a child's innate potential and fostering their emotional growth through play. This therapeutic method emphasizes creating a supportive and accepting environment where children feel free to express themselves and explore their feelings.

In Humanistic Play Therapy, the therapist acts as a compassionate guide rather than a director. The therapy is grounded in the belief that every child has the capacity for self-healing and growth. By providing a safe space where children can engage in play, the therapist helps them make sense of their experiences and emotions at their own pace.

This approach is effective for children dealing with social and emotional challenges, or life changes and transitions. Through play, children can communicate their inner world and work through difficulties in a natural and non-threatening way. Humanistic Play Therapy values the child's perspective, supports their autonomy, and builds on their strengths to help them develop resilience and a positive sense of self.

Golden Fields Play Therapy practices on Jaara country and we acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people as the Traditional Owners of this land. We pay our respects to the Dja Dja Wurrung people and to their Elders past and present. We extend our respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families we work with.
